US News & World Report recently released its 2014 rankings of Best High Schools, encompassing 31,242 public high schools across the country.

Among the many Massachusetts schools in these national rankings, 22 were awarded gold medals, 41 earned silver medals, and 12 received bronze medals based on their students' college readiness and performance on state exams. Many of Massachusetts' Best High Schools are located in the Boston area!

We were not surprised to see Boston Latin School at the top of the list, despite it's higher than average student to teacher ratio. Many local communities well-known for thier school districts also top the list, including Belmont High School, Wellesley High School, Dover-Sherborn Regional High, Medfield High School, and Sharon High School. It is also great to see two charter schools in the top ten: Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School in Marlboro and Mystic Valley Regional Charter School in Malden.
